Setting up wrist-based power
Wrist-based power is built into your watch – there’s no special setup needed, except setting your height and weight, and adding power to your data screens.
Height & weight settings
As explained in the Settings for all Watches/Power Meters book chapter, it’s important to ‘set and forget’ your height and weight.
Height and Weight are entered in the COROS mobile app:
- Open the COROS mobile app
- Select Profile – a person icon at bottom right of the display
- Select Settings at the bottom of the display
- Select Profile at the top of the display
- Enter your Height and then Weight
Auto-lap, Auto-pause, Auto-calibrate, Recording Frequency
These settings are explained in the Settings for all Watches/Power Meters book chapter. They are made on your watch, or via the COROS mobile app.
Auto-lap
Auto-lap is enabled or disabled for all workouts, not for each individual workout.
Enabling/disabling Auto-lap is described in Distance Alert – Auto-lap on the COROS website.
Auto-pause
Auto-pause is enabled or disabled for all workouts, not for each individual workout.
Enabling/disabling Auto-pause is described in Auto Pause on the COROS website.
Auto-calibrate
Auto-calibration is not available when using Wrist-based power, as speed and distance are determined using GPS.
Recording Frequency
When running a workout, COROS watches record data ‘every second’.
Adjusting what's displayed on your watch
COROS watches allow users to customize which metrics are displayed during activities. Each activity type (run, walk) can have different settings. This is described in Customize activity data pages on the COROS website.
Because wrist-based power is natively available on COROS watches, there’s no need to use an additional app – just choose the layout you want to use, and add the metrics you want to see.
Power Averaging
Power averaging is explained in the Settings for all Watches/Power Meters book chapter.
COROS watches offer real-time, smoothed and lap power.
Displaying power, pace and heart rate
Some of the activities in the book ask you to display power, pace and HR on your watch so that you can keep track of changes in those metrics as you begin to experience running with power.
To do this, choose a layout showing at least three metrics, and include 3s (smoothed) power, pace and heart rate as displayed metrics.
Moving to the next lap
To move to the next lap, press the bottom right button (labelled Back or Lap).
Using structured workouts
You can create structured workouts (with multiple steps, often used for interval workouts) using the Stryd mobile app, TrainingPeaks, Final Surge, Intervals.icu, or the COROS mobile app.
The options to create, download and execute structured workouts is described in Using COROS watches for structured workouts on the COROS website.
Uploading completed workouts
Completed workouts will be uploaded to the COROS website (and the COROS companion app).
If you want completed workouts uploaded to other apps (for reviewing), you should connect your COROS account to those apps, either connecting from COROS to the other apps, or connecting the other apps to COROS.
